Here’s to the Sequel of the Prequel!

Is it just me, or is the number of sequels rising constantly?

I know, I am the first one writing that money has to be made and a movie production is risky. Just some posts ago (which feels like ten years in real time) I stated that sequels are a wise investment decision. Yet it is getting out of hand, isn’t it?

Wwell, I can count the occasions on one hand when I sit there, robbed of all my thoughts and words because of the awesomeness I just have witnessed. Thanks to Fooly Cooly, the counter went up by 1.

To Disney

Oh, Disney, what happened to you? Did you never learn from the past or grew up?

I know that after many decades you have your style you want to retain no matter what. I know you have your image of a company producing fairy tales and other kid-friendly stuff, and I know you want to stick to that. But, well, you seem so out of touch than never before.

Well, after my last analysis of the gross revenues of 32 franchises and trilogies I wanted to write a completely different post again. But while I was redesigning my blog to be even more minimalistic my mind started to wander which finally resulted in this one nagging question: which franchise / trilogy made the most money with its (first) three movies?

Of course, I couldn’t let this one be unanswered.
