Death Race and a warning of stupidity

There were times when I suspected it and there were times when I believed. But there was never a time I was completely sure about it. Until now. Now I know it for sure that either the movie producers, the movie writing stuff, the market gurus from Hollywood or some other people else behind the scenes believe that I am an idiot.

This title might sound like a bad joke at first because ideally, most movies are best written with real life in mind. Yet with all those bad romantic comedies with their massive amount if WTF-moments and bad horror movies it seems that many have forgotten this very obious rule.

Do you fellow 3D artist know the moment when you are sitting in front of your computer, watching and counting some shady percentages go up while trying to figure out, what the heck is being calculated because nothing is truly being rendered?

3D is hating me

Do you also know the moment in CGI when anything you do is not big but you have to wait two hours to finally see it?

You know, I love CGI and creating an image of pure bits and bytes is wonderful. But I also hate 3D when anything I do needs a re-rendering of the image so I can see if I am going into the right direction. And the more I reach the final state the smaller the changes and the longer the render times. Hence, the more I hate those test renders.

In the last few weeks I was working on a massive upgrade of my PC’s. Although it cost me a fortune and an epic amount of nerves there is a side-effect for my 3D animated short A ROBOT’S DREAM I didn’t think of before. In fact it totally slipped my mind. It starts with four and ends with CPU…
